5. Cole – Phelps – L.A. Noire
Cole Phelps from L.A. Noire is a noble guy who always tries to bring in the perp without resorting to violence. He likes to solve cases by doing real detective work. He also holds a fedora well, which was actually a requirement to being a cop in the 1940’s. And we love the way how he sometimes loses his shit for no reason while interviewing a suspect.
4. Bigby Wolf – The Wolf Among Us
Bigby Wolf, also known as the ‘Big Bad Wolf’ is the best detective in Fabletown. No longer the vicious terrorizing monster he once was, Bigby is now the make-shift sheriff in the world of fairy tales and folklore. While investigating in his own unique way, he is persistently fighting the monster inside of him. O and he shares his apartment with a pig.
3. Kyle Hyde – Hotel Dusk
Kyle Hyde from the DS game Hotel Dusk is a serious detective with a troubled past. When he was a child, his father was killed. And years later, when he became a detective, his partner betrayed him selling inside information to bad people. So Kyle shot him. And then the body disappeared, leading Kyle to the mysterious Hotel Dusk full of hidden messages and shifty patrons.
2. Max Payne – Max Payne series
Max Payne is a cynical, hard-boiled detective down on his luck. His family has been murdered and now he spends his days shooting thugs in slow motion. When he’s not busy monologuing in true film noir fashion. He is such a good detective that he even manages to break the fourth-wall. Now that’s impressive detective work.
1. Batman – Batman: Arkham series
Of course The World’s Greatest Detective is the number one on our list. We suspect a certain mister Holmes might argue with that title but all of his games suck so we are going with Batman on this one. The Bats is extremely clever, has a ton of gadgets and can easily take on multiple enemies at a time. He is also able to analyse crime-scenes using his detective vision. Batman is an awesome crime fighter and our number one detective in gaming!
